Description: Colonies are hemispherical or flattened. Corallites are immersed and sometimes crowded, with small rounded openings surrounded by feathery spinules giving the colony a spiny appearance. Coenosteum papillae are fine.
Color: Cream, grey or brown.
Habitat: A wide range of environments, especially in shallow turbid water.
Abundance: Usually uncommon.
Similar Species: Astreopora randalli. See also A. myriophthalma.
