So i have 3 new baby clowns. (i wanted a pair and the guy suggested i get 3, when they pair one remains asexual and i could catch him and give him away...)

I thought they'd "take" to my new frogspawn but it's been 3 weeks and nada. not only that but they stay mostly to the top of my tank, and at night they "sleep" swimming near the top of my powerhead and i've added knew liverock & etc to ensure my fish wouldn't get too territorial. but they down seem to want to wander down the tank...

what am i doing wrong?

Not doing anything wrong clown fish are fickle. ive got a pair of O clowns and a pair of tomatos the O clowns host a power head and the tom's have this little nem you never know what they will want.

I don't know about fickle... but clownfish are DUMB... REALLY dumb.

It often takes months for percs/oscellaris to get a clue and decide to host in a perfectly good anemone, especially when young. And clowns hosting in a frogspawn isn't all that great for the fish or the coral. Heck, I've even had clowns host in zoanthids.

My percs took months and months to decide to finally be hosted by my wall hammer coral. It took the coral another couple months to get used to them (occasionally it is too much for the coral, and the clowns must be removed).

In my previous tank, I had my O clowns ignore an anemone. I placed a small "nemo" figurine next to the nem, and the clowns were in it the next day. Coincidence? Possibly, but worth a try.

Gratuitous pic time :D
