For the IM-inclined among you, SDMAS now has a JABBER server available so you can gloat about the growth on your acanthastrea colonies to other reefers all day long, and probably even on your mobile device!

The following chat clients (at least) support Jabber:
Mac: adium, ichat
PC: pidgin, trillian pro
Full list here: http://www.jabber.org/clients

In general if you're on windows, I'd recommend installing Pidgin, since it can do aim and yahoo chat and msn and all that other stuff as well.

Depending on your chat client, you may see an "XMPP" option instead of "Jabber" - they're the same thing.

Connection info:
Make an account here, just takes a minute: http://sdmas.com:9095/plugins/registration/sign-up.jsp
and then in your IM client, add a new Jabber/XMPP connection with the following info:
Server: sdmas.com
Port: 5224
Username+Password: whatever you added on the registration page

Graphical Instructions for Pidgin:

Step 1 - Visit http://sdmas.com:9095/plugins/registration/sign-up.jsp in your web browser and make an account:

Step 2 - Download and install Pidgin from here: http://www.pidgin.im/download/windows/

Step 3 - When pidgin is done installing, it will ask you to create new accounts, say yes. If you already have pidgin installed, open it up and press ctrl+a to open up the account manager

Click Add and then select XMPP:

Step 4 - on the basic tab, fill in the username and password you entered on the registration page, sdmas.com for domain, and click the "remember password" button:

On the ADVANCED tab, enter 5224 for the port, and click SAVE:

Click ok a few times and you should be all set! All of the other reefers who've signed onto the jabber server should show up automatically.

not working for me, i can't connect.

I'm using ichat. I setup the account, set up my ichat, then it won't connect as if it didn't exist.
