View Full Version : Attention Glass Tank Owners

In the true deeply-lazy-reefer fashion, I tend to neglect scraping the coralline algae off the glass. It's a pain, my long-handled scraper doesn't have a sharp enough blade, but my short-handled razor scraper isn't long enough to reach the bottom of the tank, and either way I wind up soaked, stabbed by acros, bitten by &%$#@ fish, and probably accidentally fragging stuff along the way. Not a very enjoyable way to spend an evening.

I HAVE FOUND THE ANSWER! AND ITS PRICE TAG WARMS MY CHEAP@$$ SHRIVELED SOUL!

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you:
http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/Magnetic-Glass-Cleaners/c71/p358/Easy-Blade-Algae-Scrapers!/product_info.html

... A german piece of plastic.

Let's just say I was "a little bit skeptical", but I dutifully scraped all the coralline off my cleaner magnet so I could glue the doohickie onto the back of it, stuck the contraption in my tank - and IT WORKS LIKE A CHAMP! :)

Don't forget to get some replacement blades while you're at it. Group buy, anyone?

I've got the kind with the metal blade attachment since I have a glass tank. The first time I used it I giggled like a little school girl!! Every square cm of my glass was spotless. Seriously the best invention since the wheel....or even fire :D

put me on that gb list Jess. I bought the OM one but never figured the darn thing out...blade wasn't close enough and now the blade is warped...stupid. I have plenty of coraline algae on my front-bottom glass that can use some serious scrubbing. The best blade handle attachment I have come across is the one by tetra, OG used to sell them for a short time but I'm out of replacement blades. :( I need to see if they sell them online.

shoot, so I did some digging and the one I have that is awesome but need a new blade is the TetraTec GS45 scraper. Everything I find online is out of europe. I'll have to put a call into Ron to see if he can get more of them and the replacement blades.

Bump. I'm still surprised at how many reefers don't know about this little gem of engineering.

So is this only for glass tanks? Is there anything out there for acrylic tanks?

Easy blade is only for glass - and yes the best thing. Peter told me about it and wow!!!

I have contacted Easy blade to see if we can get some for raffles - still working on it.

I made a video and will do a product video review soon.

My quote the first time I used it, "I giggled like a little school girl."

Great call on this device. I purchased it on your guys experience, and found it to beat my expectation.
