3rd dip today. No aefw signs for 9 days now. (in qt or display)
I've had no new losses this week.
As of today I have 62 survivors.
44 losses (including frags and duplicates)
I think I can attribute the majority of losses to user error.
1. keep an eye on salinity
2. watch that alkalinity like a hawk
3. don't go crazy with the turkey baster
4. leave the corals in the tank until your sure they are dead. (to the point of growing algae. (don't give up)
I've been using dts products that I got for free from JHAI for mg, alk and CA. I've got a small water volume and it's been easier for me to use this stuff.
I know there are newer and more popular methods but here's what I've been doing based on using Revive dip.
1.dip all corals in bath with a powerhead and revive at 1.2 -1.5 x dosage for 7 mins.
2. Use a turkey baster to gently work the corals over.
3. I've been using a rectangular plastic container that holds 4 gallons and I made frag racks that fit in the qt tank and dip container. My tank hold 4 racks so I only have to do 4 sessions.
4.I've started leaving the corals to soak and take a couple minutes to vacuum the section of the tank that was covered by the frag rack. This is to remove detritus and algae.
5. after the soak I put the corals right back into the qt setup with out rinsing.
6. I replace the carbon and do a 20% waterchange later in the day.
That's it for now. Only 3 more dips and 4 weeks to go. Hopefully.
