What supplements do you guys put in your scripps water before adding it to you reef tanks?

I'm using nothing in it an my corals aren't doing so well. Should I be ok using calcium and magnesium or would I need anything else?

Like I mentioned on the SDReefs thread on the same topic...I add calcium, magnesium, and sometimes some fresh water to adjust salinity. All you need to do is test it and adjust accordingly. Alot of people don't add anything to it and have great results.

Well how often do you do waterchanges and what kind of corals do you keep? If your corals aren't doing well can you tell us the tank stats like alk, ca, mag, temp, how long the tank's been up...

If i were to use scripps I'd add ca and mag to it and also RO/DI water to bring down the salinity.

I do weekly 5 gallon water changes, sometimes more often but never less than that. I don't have test for alk, ca, mag, but temp stays at 80 +/- 1 degree.

I've had the tank for 2 months but the guy I bought it from had it set up for 8 months.

well, to say you "need" to add to scripps is wrong. you do however need to test your ca, alk, and mg. without knowing your levels, you can not properly dose new or old water. all my other tanks, i never dosed anything to scripps and had no issues. it wasn't until i got primarily into sps that i started bumping mg because i am maintaining my ca and alk at a higher level.

I have mostly softies and a couple lps is there anything I could be doing wrong with this then?

Bottom line is you need to test for salinity, alk, calc, ph, nitrates, etc. You won't be able to fix the problem until you figure out what the problem is.
