I think it is sad because you don't get to tell it everyday how beautiful it is.

The only thing I see is calc a little low, but nothing that should cause problems.

I thought you were getting that Mg up? Toss that damn Epsom salt, and get some real MgCl2. Raise you Mg. Then recheck your Alk/Ca. You may find it also increased a bit. Then...do a nice water change. Water changes ALWAYS help, or at least never hurt :) Is the skimmer pulling out crap? Do you run carbon? Have you changed it recently?

Your Mg could definitely be higher... How often are you doing water changes? Water changes always help. Are you stilll living in North County and the tank is still in Temecula? Maybe just needs some TLC

Thanks for all the suggestions. I've done one waterchange and am working on the second right now. Yes I am trying to get the mag up I bought Kent liquid mag in the bottle so its not epson salt. I've added a lot but it doesn't move much.... I've been trying not to raise anything too fast.

I'm changing the carbon and the phosban even though those aren't older than 2 weeks. And I am checking for stray voltage but I am having a hard time reading the analog display. I do have a small reading though.

Just so you know, in my system of 350gals it took 1250ml of BRS magnesium chloride and magnesium sulfate to raise my mg 50ppm. It takes a ton of solution to raise it. You will go broke buying Kent or any other brand of liquid magnesium. I would use the two part stuff. I have a whole bucket of mag flakes if you want to try that.

Also...forget about the voltage thing. I never understood why people worry about that. If you don't get shocked putting your finger in the water, there is nothing to worry about. Handheld voltmeters are not designed to measure electric current in water. I guarantee you that I can meter voltage in just about any tank out there by sticking one of the probes in the water and the other on a ground point. It means nothing unless it is very high and you won't need a meter to figure that one out.

Just order the Magnesium chloride from bulkreefsupply. Shipping is per pound, so it doesn't really make a difference if you order just that, or other stuff, or make it a group buy.

I've personally never been able to blame anything on stray voltage, so I wouldn't make that your focus. You don't have too many things that could even cause it, frankly.

I would continue with water changes. You have quite a heafty bioload in there. Make sure that skimmer is working as hard as it can, and keep up on the carbon changes. What is your carbon in?

nah, they are my babies. They were looking bad on saturday when I saw them last. There's nothing in my tank to crawl over every last colony :).

On a lighter note I don't know if it is just wishful thinking but I think the acans look a little improved after one water change. here goes #2

I normally do 45 gallons every 2 weeks. This may have rolled over into 3. But I did a 37gallon water change last night and a 45 gallon change today.


I'm going to test one last time before I have to leave the tank to its own devices for a few days. We'll see what becomes of things.

Bummer... How did you do that? After cleaning up were you able to check your parameters?

or it could be that it is fighting with another coral!?? have u moved em or put any other corals near it!?? some corals can have some pretty long sweeper tenticals. :whip: look at ur tank at night to see if anything is trying to sleep in it or if its getting stung! another possibilty could be a fish is picking on it for watever reason.. like so fish will eat a slime coat that some corals produse and they will pick at the coral to get that slime coat but it dose upset the coral..

or if u havnt tried this already u can never go wrong with dips! i had a coral dieing rapidly and i diped it and it has been abojut a month and its heald and grown! so if it comes down to it do a 5 to 10 min dip in a lugol's solution or somthing!
